Our Story

Moms Connect was born out of interactions with families who were part of the foster care system.  One mother in particular started the passion for serving and learning from mothers.  Our goal is to move our impact upstream, and build relationships with mothers to promote family preservation. Moms Connect is based on life experience as well as the research of Dr. Bruce Perry who identifies healthy relationships as a key to healing.

After fostering children in our home for several years a mother came into my life while I cared for her boys.  I was instantly drawn to her, what she had overcome, and her kind, respectful personality.  It was obvious she loved her children.  This mother and I maintained a relationship while I cared for her children, when her children returned home, and then again while I assisted in the care of them a couple years later.  My  experience with her taught me that my passion was for mothers who struggled to find the support and resources needed in motherhood.  I have learned so many life lessons through my interactions with her and am grateful to journey with her.  I am honored to learn and support the mothers we serve because, in it, I am living out my purpose.  -Kristina

As a foster and adoptive mom, I’ve seen the ways the child welfare system affects families, even when they end up reunified.  I remember having a baby come to our home after fostering for a few years and adopting 3 kids- I just kept thinking “I’m too late”, so much trauma had already happened for her and her parents.  What I’ve experienced as a foster/adoptive parent really motivated me to become involved with moms and families while the kids were still in the home.  I’ve seen moms be successful after they’ve lost their children to the system and I want to be part of their story before that happens.  Before it feels like it’s too late.  I’ve loved being in the position to both support and learn from the moms we serve.  It’s been a joy to grow alongside them. -Gina

A word from the moms

“Moms Connect helps me feel not alone. Having support and love from other moms in the group is what helps the most”

“Moms Connect is a good support for me because I can connect with other moms and create friendships with them. They also help me with other struggles in my life by offering different kinds of supports or even just to meet up one on one to talk”
